IIT JAM Registration 2026: The registration window for IIT JAM 2026 closes today, October 12, 2025. Aspirants seeking admission to postgraduate science programmes offered by IITs must complete their applications via the official portal jam2026.iitb.ac.in before the deadline.

 

IIT JAM 2026 Application Fee Details and Payment Process

Students can apply for the IIT JAM 2026 by paying the application fee applicable to their category as per the schedule. The fees are structured as follows for one and two test papers.

Applicants can make payments online through debit card, credit card, net banking, or UPI on the JOAPS portal. The application fee is non-refundable, and candidates must pay carefully to avoid errors.

 

IIT JAM 2026 Eligibility and Important Application Guidelines

IIT JAM 2026 is open to candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. There is no minimum marks requirement, no age limit, and final-year students are eligible to apply. Both Indian and foreign students can participate.

 

Applicants must upload recent passport-sized photographs, signatures, and other necessary documents, such as category certificates and proof of date of birth, during registration on the JOAPS portal.

 

Key Dates and Exam Schedule for IIT JAM 2026

The authorities have announced critical deadlines and examination timelines listed below:

  • Registration Opening Date: September 5, 2025
  • Registration Closing Date: October 12, 2025
  • Admit Card Release Date: January 5, 2026
  • IIT JAM Exam Date: February 15, 2026
  • Result Declaration Date: March 20, 2026

The exam will be conducted in seven test papers, including Biotechnology, Geology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Economics, Mathematical Statistics, and Physics. The exam will run in two sessions on February 15, 2026, and the duration for each will be three hours.

 

Exam City Selection and Application Corrections

Candidates must select their preferred exam cities across eight zones and remember that second and third choices must be from the same zone as the first choice. If a chosen city cannot be accommodated, an alternate town will be assigned.

 

Corrections in category, gender, date of birth, and examination city can be made by paying an additional charge of INR 300 before November 10, 2025.

 

IIT JAM 2026 Exam Format and Benefits for PwD Candidates

The exam is computer-based and contains 60 questions of varied types: Multiple Choice Questions, Multiple Select Questions, and Numerical Answer Type questions divided into sections A, B, and C. The total marks are 100.

 

PwD candidates are granted one extra hour per test paper. Scribe services are available for visually impaired candidates who request them during registration.
