IIT Bombay conducted IIT JAM 2026 on February 15 in two shifts. Mathematics paper was difficult, while Chemistry was easy to moderate overall.

IIT JAM 2026 Exam Conducted; Maths and Chemistry Analysis

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay successfully conducted the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM) 2026 on February 15, 2026. The examination was held in two shifts in computer-based mode. The forenoon session ran from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, while the afternoon session was conducted from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. Chemistry, Mathematics, and Geology papers were held in the morning shift. Physics, Biotechnology, Economics, and Mathematical Statistics were conducted in the afternoon session.

 

IIT JAM 2026 Mathematics Question Paper Analysis

Based on student reactions, the Mathematics paper was very difficult compared to the 2025 exam.

  • The MCQ section was lengthy and calculation-intensive.
  • Several questions required strong conceptual clarity.
  • Two questions were asked from permutations and binomial concepts.

Candidates reported that time management was challenging due to the computational nature of the questions.

 

IIT JAM 2026 Chemistry Question Paper Analysis

The Chemistry paper had a mixed difficulty level.

  • Physical Chemistry was on the difficult side.
  • Organic and Inorganic Chemistry sections were easy to moderate.
  • Overall paper difficulty was rated easy to moderate.

Students with strong fundamentals found the paper manageable.
