IIT Hyderabad SURE Internship 2026 Applications Open for undergraduate and postgraduate students across India. The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad has invited online applications for its Summer Undergraduate Research Exposure (SURE) Internship 2026. The last date to apply is 10 March 2026.
IIT Hyderabad SURE Internship 2026 Important Dates and Seats
The application process started on 28 February 2026 and will close on 10 March 2026. Applications must be submitted through the official website iith.ac.in. Offline or email submissions will not be accepted. A total of 250 internship seats are available under the programme. Out of these, 100 seats are reserved for women candidates. The internship is open only to students studying at institutions other than IIT Hyderabad. The result is expected to be declared tentatively by 15 April 2026, and the programme will commence from 15 May 2026.
SURE Internship 2026 Fellowship and Duration Details
Selected interns will receive financial assistance for the research programme. The internship will run tentatively from 15 May 2026 to 14 July 2026. The fellowship structure is as follows:
- Full two-month duration – INR 15,000
- One-month duration – INR 7,500 per month
- One-and-a-half months – INR 10,000
The minimum duration of the internship is one month, and the maximum is two months. Part-time or online internships are not permitted. Selected candidates will be provided hostel accommodation in IIT Hyderabad student hostels. However, mess charges must be paid by the interns.
IIT Hyderabad SURE 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The programme is open to students meeting specific academic requirements. Eligible applicants include:
- First-year MSc students in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology
- First-year MA students
- Second or third-year BTech or BDes students from any branch
- Third or fourth-year students in Integrated BTech-MTech programmes
Applicants must be among the top 20 per cent of their class based on CGPA or percentage in all previous years. This ranking must be certified by the head of the institution or principal. Candidates must also be full-time regular students at the time of application and during the internship period.
IIT Hyderabad SURE Internship 2026 Selection Process
The selection process will be conducted in two stages.
- First, applications will undergo preliminary screening.
- Shortlisted candidates will then appear for an online interview conducted department-wise or by the assigned faculty mentor.
Selection will be based on consistent academic performance, participation in extracurricular and co-curricular activities, involvement in competitions such as Olympiads and the National Talent Search Examination, and interview performance.
Selected candidates will be informed through email, and the final list will be published on the IIT Hyderabad SRC office webpage. The institute’s decision regarding selection will be final.
