IIT Guwahati Announces Schedule for MTech, MS, PhD Admissions

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has officially released the examination schedule for to facilitate postgraduate admissions into MTech, MS and PhD programmes at leading engineering and science institutes. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 will be conducted in computer‑based test (CBT) mode over four days in February 2026, with tests held in two shifts each day. The schedule and mock test links are available on the official portal gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Candidates can use the mock tests to familiarise themselves with the CBT interface and question navigation ahead of the actual exam.

Mock Test Links and Exam Pattern

IIT Guwahati has also activated mock test links on the official website to help candidates understand the CBT layout, question format and navigation system. These mock tests are especially useful for exam day preparation. The mock test environment includes simulated functionality similar to the actual GATE CBT, though scorecards and evaluations will not be generated from these practice attempts.The question paper will comprise multiple choice questions (MCQ), multiple select questions (MSQ) and numerical answer type (NAT) questions.

The GATE exam is a national‑level postgraduate entrance examination conducted for admission to MTech, MS and PhD programmes in premier institutions including IITs, IISc and NITs. Scores are also widely used for public sector undertaking (PSU) recruitment across India.Candidates across 30 different test papers will appear for the exam, which evaluates undergraduate knowledge in engineering and science disciplines.
