IIT Bombay has released detailed onboarding instructions for students admitted to undergraduate programmes for the 2026–27 academic session. New entrants must complete online formalities, activate their institute account, pay the Semester Mess Advance, and report to campus as per the official schedule.
IIT Bombay UG Admissions 2026 onboarding guidelines have been released for students admitted through JEE (Advanced) 2026, Preparatory Course 2025, INMO 2026, and UCEED 2026. The institute has outlined a comprehensive registration and reporting process for candidates joining B.Tech., B.Tech. + M.Tech., B.Des., and BS programmes in the 2026–27 academic session. According to the institute, all newly admitted students must complete several online formalities before reporting to the campus. These include activating their institute IT account, completing academic registration requirements, paying the Semester Mess Advance (SMA), and downloading pre-filled registration documents. Completing these tasks in advance will help ensure a smooth admission and hostel allotment process.
IIT Bombay UG Admission 2026 Registration Process and Welcome Email
To facilitate the onboarding process, IIT Bombay will send a welcome email to all newly admitted undergraduate students on their registered email IDs by July 17, 2026, at 10:00 PM. The email will contain essential admission information required for campus reporting. The welcome email will include:
- IIT Bombay Roll Number
- Institute IT Services login credentials
- Hostel room allocation details
- Registration and reporting instructions
- Important academic and orientation information
After receiving the email, students must activate their IT account by accepting the institute's IT Access Policy through the official portal. Following account activation, candidates should log in to the Academic Services Centre (ASC) Portal to:
- Complete personal information and mandatory declarations.
- Pay the Semester Mess Advance (SMA).
- Download and print pre-filled registration documents.
- Verify personal and admission details before reporting.
The institute has specified that the Semester Mess Advance must be paid before July 29, 2026. A late fee will apply after the deadline. Students eligible for free messing are also required to pay the SMA initially and may claim reimbursement after completing admission.

Students should carefully follow the official admission timeline to avoid missing any mandatory activity. The institute has announced the schedule for hostel reporting, orientation, and commencement of classes.
Documents Required for IIT Bombay Registration
Candidates must carry printed copies of the documents generated through the ASC Portal while reporting to the institute. They should also affix passport-sized photographs wherever required before submission. The required documents include:
- Student and Parent Declaration Form
- Hostel Registration Form
- Medical File Record
- Pre-filled registration forms from the ASC Portal
- Passport-sized photographs
- Original educational and identity documents for verification
The Medical File Record will be verified by the institute's medical officer and retained for future healthcare requirements at the campus hospital.
Orientation Programme, Verification Process and Student Support
The orientation programme will begin on July 21, 2026, introducing students to academic regulations, campus facilities, student services, and institutional policies. During July 22 to July 25, 2026, the institute will conduct several mandatory verification activities, including original document verification, biometric registration, ID card generation, and medical record verification. To help new students adapt to campus life, IIT Bombay has also encouraged participation in its Student Mentor Programme, where senior students provide academic and personal guidance throughout the initial semester. Additionally, freshers can access the NewBee platform to receive admission-related updates and submit queries. Students can log in using their JEE (Advanced) Roll Number or UCEED Registration Number as the username and their Date of Birth (DDMMYYYY format) as the password. The platform will remain an important communication channel throughout the onboarding process.
