The Department of Higher Education has officially announced that IISER Berhampur will conduct the IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) 2026. The exam is part of the admissions process for the 2026–27 academic session, offering entry into undergraduate programmes across seven IISERs established under the Government of India.
IISER IAT 2026 Conducting Body and Admissions Board
According to the official memorandum, the IISER Admission Board (IAB-2026) has been formed to oversee the seat allocation process. Prof. Ashok Kumar Ganguli, Director of IISER Berhampur, has been appointed as the Chairperson of the board. The IAB-2026 will manage seat allocation, ensuring reservation policies are followed and finalising procedures and schedules for admissions. The seven IISERs offer admissions to B.Tech, BS, and BS-MS dual degree programmes. Seats will be allocated based on the merit list prepared from IISER IAT 2026 results.
IISER IAT 2026 Exam Pattern and Details
The IISER IAT 2026 will be an online exam, held for three hours. Key features of the exam include:
- Total Questions: 60
- Subject Distribution: 15 questions each from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics
- Maximum Marks: 240
- Merit List: Candidates must meet the cutoff marks to be included in the merit list
The exam is expected to be conducted in May 2026, and the official notification will be released by IISER Berhampur on its website.
Responsibilities of IISER Admission Board (IAB-2026)
The IAB-2026 has been tasked with several responsibilities to ensure smooth admissions:
- Ensuring institutes prepare seat metrics considering Government of India reservation policies
- Finalising seat allocation procedures and schedules
- Designating resource and help centres, and managing necessary arrangements
- Printing the admission brochure and designing online choice filling forms
- Maintaining the official admissions website with procedures, rules, and guidelines
- Overseeing distribution and collection of online seat choices
- Establishing the procedure for certificate and credential verification
