Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) has signed an agreement with the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) India to introduce a new executive education programme in chartered financial planning. The pact was formalised in Mumbai on 5 February 2026 in the presence of senior representatives from both organisations.
In a statement, IIM Calcutta said the partnership will combine its strong academic foundation with the global expertise of FPSB a leading authority in financial planning standards and professional certification to offer specialised training for executives and finance professionals.
Strategic Collaboration to Enhance Financial Planning Education
The memorandum of understanding was signed by Prof Alok Kumar Rai, Director of IIM Calcutta, in the presence of Dante De Gori, Global CEO of FPSB. Prof P Rajesh Babu, Dean of Executive Education at IIM Calcutta, was also present at the signing ceremony. This partnership aligns with growing industry demand for structured, high-quality education in financial planning and wealth management. The new programme aims to equip professionals with advanced knowledge and practical skills in areas such as financial advisory services, risk assessment, retirement planning, taxation, and investment strategies.
Focus and Benefits of the Programme
The executive education programme is expected to focus on:
- Chartered financial planning standards recognised globally
- Practical industry frameworks designed for finance professionals
- Executive-level modules relevant to contemporary financial markets
- Collaboration with leading experts in the field of financial planning
By integrating IIM Calcutta’s academic leadership with FPSB’s certification standards, the programme seeks to fill a niche in advanced financial education and professional practice.
Implications for Professionals and the Industry
This initiative comes at a time when demand for skilled professionals in financial planning and advisory roles is rising. Structured executive education in this domain helps address the gap between traditional management training and specialised financial expertise. Professionals who complete the programme may enhance their credentials for roles in financial consultancy, wealth management, corporate finance, and advisory services — sectors where professional accreditation and domain knowledge are increasingly valued.
