IIM Ahmedabad PGP 2026 Placement: BCG Tops First Cluster

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad has concluded the first cluster of the final placement process for the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) Class of 2026. The institute’s cluster-cohort based recruitment saw strong participation from top firms across varied sectors, with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) leading as the largest recruiter in the management consulting segment. This placement phase involved firms grouped into multiple industry cohorts, enabling targeted recruitment across domains such as consulting, finance and advisory. IIM Ahmedabad’s structured cluster approach allows participating companies to engage with students in a hybrid mode, either virtually or on campus.

BCG Leads Management Consulting Cohort

During the first cluster, a total of 47 firms participated in the final placement process. The management consulting cohort, a key segment for PGP placements, was dominated by the Boston Consulting Group, which made 33 offers to students. Alongside BCG, several marquee consulting firms such as Alvarez & Marsal, Bain & Company, Kearney and McKinsey & Company were actively involved in recruitment. The transformation and operations consulting cohort also attracted top recruiters including Accenture Strategy and Analysys Mason, while the advisory consulting cohort reported significant engagement from EY-Parthenon and Deloitte USI, with 15 and 12 offers respectively.

Other Key Recruiters in Cluster 1

Apart from the consulting domain, the cluster featured strong participation from firms in investment banking, private equity and advisory sectors. In the investment banking and markets cohort, high participation was seen from major financial institutions such as Citibank, JPMorgan Chase & Co (JPMC), Morgan Stanley and UBS, with Goldman Sachs leading the segment with multiple offers. The private equity, venture capital and asset management cohort was marked by offers from notable asset firms including Temasek, Blackstone, General Atlantic and Elevation Capital, reflecting diverse opportunities across financial domains. In the cards and financial advisory cohort, American Express emerged as a primary recruiter with 15 offers.

Cluster Structure and Remaining Schedule

IIM Ahmedabad follows a cluster-based placement strategy for its final placements, where companies are assigned to cohorts and invited in scheduled clusters. The first cluster was held on 3 February 2026, and the second and third clusters are planned for 6 February and 9 February 2026 respectively. If required, additional rolling processes will be conducted post the third cluster to facilitate further placements. This segmented approach helps companies focus on specific industry cohorts while allowing students to engage with relevant recruiters based on their career interests.

Placement Process and Student Engagement

The hybrid placement structure at IIM Ahmedabad supports both physical and online recruitment, enabling participation from national and international firms. The first cluster’s strong turnout underscores students’ preparedness and the institute’s extensive industry connections. As the final placement season progresses, further insights into overall placement metrics, including total offers, highest packages and sector trends, will emerge following the completion of all clusters.
