IIIT Hyderabad Admission 2026, UGEE Offers Entry Without 75% Marks

IIIT Hyderabad Admission 2026 draws strong interest as JEE Main 2026 approaches. Many aspirants seek options that do not follow the 75% eligibility rule used for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. In this context, the institute’s UGEE-based BTech+MS admissions offer a major alternative.

IIIT Hyderabad UGEE 2026 Eligibility and Admission Criteria

IIIT Hyderabad follows a separate admission process for its BTech+MS dual degree programme. As per the latest admission rules, candidates applying through UGEE must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The institute does not require a minimum 75% aggregate for UGEE applicants. This makes UGEE a practical option for aspirants who may not meet the board percentage criteria but want admission to a top institute.

The selection process includes the UGEE exam followed by interview rounds. Seats are allotted based on performance in both stages.

UGEE vs JEE Main 2026: Admission Pathways Explained

IIIT Hyderabad also accepts students through the JEE Main channel. However, unlike the national rule set for NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, the institute has its own eligibility terms. Candidates applying through JEE Main 2026 at IIITH must hold at least 60% marks in PCM, not the standard 75% rule followed in JoSAA counselling.

This difference makes IIITH an attractive option for students who secure strong JEE Main performance but fall short of the national 75% requirement.

NITs, IIITs Admission Without JEE Main 2026: Alternate Channels

Several students look for alternate pathways when they do not meet the standard JEE Main or board percentage criteria. IIIT Hyderabad’s independent UGEE entrance test remains one of the most reliable alternatives. It allows candidates to secure admission based purely on entrance exam and interview performance.

Before choosing the route, candidates must understand the eligibility conditions for all channels. Below is a clear comparison to show how UGEE differs from the national admission norms.

Comparison of Eligibility Requirements

The data summarises eligibility across UGEE, JEE Main IIITH admissions, and JoSAA-based admissions for NITs and other institutes.

IIIT Hyderabad’s flexible eligibility norms make it a leading choice for aspirants seeking high-ranking institutes without the strict board percentage criteria. As JEE Main 2026 approaches, students can evaluate both pathways carefully to decide the best fit for their academic goals.
