The IGNOU BEd Entrance Exam 2026 is expected to be conducted in March for admission to the 2026–2028 academic session. Indira Gandhi National Open University conducts this national-level exam once every year for candidates seeking admission to the Bachelor of Education programme. As per previous admission trends, the IGNOU BEd application form 2026 is likely to be released in January. The entrance examination is held in offline mode across designated centres, and the programme duration is 2 years with a maximum completion limit of 5 years. The medium of instruction remains English and Hindi.

IGNOU BEd Eligibility Criteria 2026

To appear for the IGNOU BEd Entrance Exam 2026, candidates must meet the minimum academic and professional requirements prescribed by the university. Eligibility is verified before the final admission stage.

  • Minimum 50 percent marks in Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Science, Social Sciences, Commerce, or Humanities
  • For Engineering or Technology graduates with specialization in Science or Mathematics, at least 55 percent marks are required
  • For Open and Distance Learning category:
    • Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
    • Candidates holding an NCTE-recognised teacher training qualification through face-to-face mode

A 5 percent relaxation in qualifying marks is applicable for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and PwD candidates as per government norms. Reservation benefits for Kashmiri Migrants and war widows are provided under university guidelines. A Master’s Degree without a preceding Bachelor’s Degree is not accepted.

 

IGNOU BEd Exam Pattern and Syllabus 2026

The entrance test evaluates candidates on general awareness, reasoning ability, subject knowledge, and teaching aptitude. The structured format ensures fair assessment across different academic backgrounds. Before understanding the subject-wise distribution, candidates must note that the examination consists of 100 multiple-choice questions carrying 100 marks in total. Each correct answer carries 1 mark, with no negative marking.

IGNOU BEd Selection Process After Result

Final admission is granted only after verification of educational certificates, identity proof, and category documents, wherever applicable.
