ICSE Class Ten Biology Exam Pattern Two Thousand Twenty Six Released

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has officially released the ICSE Class Ten Biology exam pattern for the academic session Two Thousand Twenty Five–Twenty Six. The structured assessment framework outlines the distribution of marks between external theory evaluation and internal practical assessment. Biology will continue to carry a total of one hundred marks, divided into eighty marks for the theory paper and twenty marks for internal assessment. The theory examination will be conducted for a duration of two hours in offline mode. The paper will include short answer compulsory questions and long answer choice-based questions, with strong emphasis on diagrams, application-based reasoning, and conceptual understanding.

High-Weightage Topics for Focused Preparation

Based on the official weightage, the following units carry the highest scoring potential:

  • Nervous System – Sixteen Marks
  • Genetics – Thirteen Marks
  • Photosynthesis – Thirteen Marks
  • Sense Organs – Nine Marks
  • Circulatory System and Reproductive System – Eight Marks each

Education experts advise students to give maximum priority to Human Anatomy and Physiology and Genetics, as these units together account for a significant portion of the total paper.

Question Pattern and Evaluation Method

Section A will consist of compulsory short answer questions testing fundamental concepts. Section B will contain long answer descriptive questions with internal choices, requiring students to attempt any four questions. Diagrams, reasoning-based answers, and clarity of biological processes will carry strict marking standards. Internal assessment will evaluate students on:

  • Laboratory experiments
  • Biology project work
  • Practical record submission
  • Continuous classroom observation

What Students Should Note for the Two Thousand Twenty Six Board Exam?

  • Strong command over conceptual clarity and diagrammatic representation remains essential.
  • Human Physiology units together contribute more than forty percent of the theory paper.
  • Internal assessment continues to hold twenty marks, which can significantly improve overall scores.
