The ICSE Class 10 Board Examinations 2026 commenced today, February 17, with the English paper marking the start of the examination season. The exams are being conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) across centres in the country. Approximately 2.6 lakh students are appearing for the examination this year. The English paper is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am, and students have been directed to follow all board-mandated instructions strictly.
Reporting Time and Mandatory Requirements
CISCE has instructed candidates to report to their respective examination centres at least 40–45 minutes before the scheduled start time. Entry will not be permitted without a valid admit card. Students must:
- Carry a hard copy of the CISCE-issued admit card
- Wear their prescribed school uniform
- Bring their school identity card
- Carry only permitted items such as basic stationery and a transparent water bottle
The board has clearly stated that any deviation from the dress code or failure to produce necessary documents may result in denial of entry.
ICSE 2026 Exam Day Guidelines: Dos and Don’ts
To ensure smooth conduct of the examination, CISCE has issued the following instructions:
Dos
- Reach the exam centre well before time.
- Carefully read the question paper upon receipt.
- Immediately report any discrepancy to the invigilator.
- Follow proper discipline throughout the examination process.
Don’ts
- Late entry, even by five minutes, will not be permitted.
- Electronic gadgets, smartwatches, or unauthorised materials are strictly prohibited.
- Casual clothing is not allowed; only the official school uniform must be worn.
- Students cannot leave the examination hall before the official conclusion of the paper.
Last-Minute Strategy for Better Performance
Experts advise students to stay calm and adopt a structured approach during the examination. Candidates should utilise the first 10 minutes to scan the entire question paper and identify easier sections. Attempting well-prepared questions first can help build confidence. Writing answers in a clear, point-wise manner and underlining important keywords can improve presentation. Students are encouraged to manage their time wisely, especially for high-mark questions, and reserve at least 15 minutes for revision. Before submission, candidates should double-check their roll number, question numbering, and calculations. Maintaining neat rough work and carefully reading section-wise instructions can help avoid unnecessary errors. With the examination season now underway, students are advised to remain focused, hydrated, and composed to perform at their best.
