The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) conducted the ICSE Class 10 English Literature (Paper 2) examination on 20 February 2026 at various board exam centres across India. The two-hour paper ended at 1 PM, and student responses indicate that the question paper was balanced and covered the prescribed syllabus effectively.
ICSE Class 10 Board Exams: Section-wise Paper Pattern and Student Feedback
The ICSE English Literature paper was structured into three key sections: Drama, Poetry, and Prose, with internal choices provided in each part. Students were required to attempt questions from all sections within the allotted duration.
Section A: Drama
- Focused on extracts and theme-based questions from the prescribed drama text.
- Included character sketches, reference-to-context questions, and thematic explanations.
- Many students reported that extract-based questions were straightforward for those who revised thoroughly.
Section B: Poetry
- Featured poetry passages require appreciation, identification of figures of speech, and central idea explanations.
- Students noted that this section demanded concept clarity and analytical answers.
Section C: Prose
- Contained short answer and extract-based questions along with character and theme analyses.
- Test takers indicated that questions were fairly balanced, focusing on moral insights and narrative understanding.
Overall, feedback suggests the exam was moderate in difficulty, engaging students in both direct textual queries and higher-order thematic questions.

Additional student reviews indicated that while a majority found the paper moderate, some described certain parts, especially MCQs and analytical questions, as time-consuming or lengthy. A section of the examinees also rated the question paper as moderate with a substantial thinking component.
