The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) will start the online choice-filling for UG Counselling 2025 from Monday, October 6, after a delay of nearly one and a half months. The registration and choice-filling process will officially mark the beginning of admissions for undergraduate agriculture and allied courses across ICAR-affiliated universities.
According to Dr Joykrushna Jena, Director General (Education), ICAR, the process may begin on October 6 or October 7, depending on the completion of State Bank of India (SBI) payment gateway integration.
Reason behind ICAR UG Counselling 2025 Delay
Dr Jena stated that ICAR was initially ready to begin the counselling process by mid-September. However, the delay occurred due to technical issues in payment gateway integration. The council had earlier collaborated with another bank that later withdrew, forcing ICAR to restart the process with SBI.
“The SBI team has assured us that the payment system will be ready by Saturday. If not, the process will begin by Monday or Tuesday,” Dr Jena confirmed.
ICAR UG Counselling 2025 Schedule and Rounds
ICAR will conduct five rounds of counselling instead of the earlier three or four. Each round will last about three days, reduced from the usual five, to ensure the admission process concludes by the third week of October.

Dr Jena mentioned that ICAR aims to finish the process earlier than last year, when counselling extended into January.
ICAR UG Admission 2025 Eligibility and Seat Matrix Update
Before the start of counselling, ICAR released a revised seat matrix through its updated brochure. Out of 50 participating universities, most have agreed to accept agriculture and allied subjects at the Class 12 level as part of eligibility.
Earlier, the eligibility was restricted to students from the Physics, Chemistry, Biology (PCB) stream. Now, combinations like Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture or Agriculture, Biology, and others will also be accepted.
Expected Timeline for ICAR UG Counselling 2025
ICAR expects to complete all five rounds of counselling before mid-October 2025. The registration and choice-filling phase beginning from October 6 will be followed by seat allotment results for each round.
Candidates who had been waiting since the release of rank cards in September can now proceed with the counselling process once the portal opens.
