HPCL Graduate Apprentice Salary 2026: Stipend, Role & Career Growth

The Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) has opened its Graduate Apprentice Trainee engagement for 2026, offering a structured one-year apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This programme provides fresh engineering graduates an opportunity to gain industrial experience in core energy and infrastructure operations. Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly stipend of ₹25,000 during the apprenticeship period, which is a competitive package compared to many industry internships and training roles.

HPCL Graduate Apprentice Salary Structure 2026

The ₹25,000 monthly stipend for HPCL Graduate Apprentice Trainees comes from two sources:

  • ₹20,500 per month paid directly by HPCL
  • ₹4,500 per month credited by the Government of India under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme

This consolidated stipend remains consistent throughout the 12-month apprenticeship tenure and does not include additional allowances such as housing or medical benefits.

Job Profile and Training Environment

Graduate Apprentice Trainees at HPCL are typically placed in engineering domains such as Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation, among others. During the training period, apprentices get exposure to:

  • Practical work experience at refinery and marketing divisions
  • Hands-on industry operations related to maintenance, safety, project execution and process support
  • Rotational exposure across functional teams to build professional competencies

This apprenticeship functions as on-the-job training, allowing graduates to bridge academic knowledge with workplace practices, potentially making them more industry-ready for future roles.

Career Growth & Future Opportunities

While the apprenticeship programme itself does not guarantee permanent employment with HPCL, successfully completing the training can positively impact a candidate’s future career path:

  • Apprentices may receive preference or relaxations in future HPCL recruitments or similar PSU notifications
  • Practical experience with a reputed PSU like HPCL improves industry credibility on the resume
  • The stint may open doors to higher roles in energy, infrastructure and government sectors

Candidates should view this apprenticeship as a valuable entry-level exposure rather than a direct job placement.

Eligibility and Selection Insights

  • Only engineering graduates (B.Tech/B.E.) with relevant discipline and qualifying percentage are eligible
  • Selection is typically merit-based followed by document verification
  • No written exam or interview is generally conducted for the apprentice role
