HP Board Restores Affiliation of 292 Schools After Formalities Cleared

The Himachal Pradesh School Education Board (HPBOSE) has reinstated the affiliation of 292 institutions across the state after completing the required administrative formalities. The clarification was issued in the state Assembly on 27 Nov 2025 by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, putting an end to speculation around permanent cancellation. The minister confirmed that the affiliations were only temporarily suspended and not revoked, and all schools have now been restored under the board after verification.

Temporary Suspension Due to Incomplete Formalities, Says HP Education Minister

Speaking in a written reply in the Assembly, the education minister stated that the suspension was imposed only because the institutions had failed to complete mandatory procedural requirements within the stipulated timeline. Once these formalities were completed, the board immediately revived the affiliations. He further clarified that no institution lost permanent recognition, and the action was purely administrative in nature. The statement was issued in response to a query raised by BJP MLA Rakesh Jamwal. The move is expected to bring relief to students, parents, and school managements, as affiliation status directly impacts board examinations, student registrations, and certificate validity.

Process Initiated for CBSE Affiliation of 100 Government Schools

Along with the reinstatement update, the minister also informed the House that the process to seek CBSE affiliation for about 100 government senior secondary schools in Himachal Pradesh has already been initiated. This decision is part of the state government’s long-term plan to:
