HP Board May Upload Class 10 Answer Sheets Online for Transparency

The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE) is preparing to roll out a series of major reforms aimed at strengthening transparency, curbing malpractice, and improving student services during the upcoming board exams. Board Chairman Rajesh Sharma shared these updates during an interaction with the media in Nurpur on Monday evening. According to him, the board has proposed a new system under which answer sheets of all Class 10 students may be uploaded on the official website after the declaration of results. This step is being considered to make the evaluation process more transparent and accessible for examinees and guardians. Initially, the initiative will be implemented as a pilot project in one district, and based on its success, it may be expanded statewide.

Sharma explained that the move is aimed at ensuring that students have easy access to their evaluated answer sheets without lengthy formalities. The proposal, once finalised, is expected to become one of the most significant digital reforms undertaken by the Himachal Pradesh board in recent years. In another key announcement, the board confirmed that the final board examinations will see the introduction of four different question-paper series — A, B, C and D. Each series will contain the same questions but arranged in a different order, following the pattern used by national-level competitive examinations such as UPSC. The Chairman said the primary objective is to prevent cheating and restrict academic misconduct inside exam centres. With multiple paper sets, invigilators will be able to manage examination rooms more effectively.

To further reinforce exam integrity, HPBSE has decided to keep video recordings of exam centres for one year. These recordings can be used if any complaint, discrepancy or appeal arises after the announcement of results. The board believes this step will serve as a strong deterrent to malpractice and strengthen public trust in the system. The Chairman added that students seeking revaluation will soon be able to apply online, making the process faster and more convenient than the current offline system. Alongside examination-related measures, HPBSE is also focusing on strengthening value-based education. Sharma announced that the board will introduce a new non-academic booklet for Classes 9 to 12, inspired by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s work “Education for Children.” The booklet aims to promote cultural understanding, human values, and ethical learning among adolescents.

During the interaction, Sharma—who also holds responsibilities within the Congress organisation in the Nurpur region—shared that a door-to-door public outreach campaign will soon be launched with support from former MLA Ajay Mahajan. The initiative is aimed at informing residents about welfare schemes introduced by the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government. The proposed reforms come at a crucial time as boards across the country explore technology-driven solutions to strengthen examination systems. If implemented successfully, Himachal Pradesh may become one of the first states to publish answer sheets online as a transparency measure, setting a strong precedent for others to follow.
