Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister announced 25% reservation for women in Class 3 government jobs during an International Women’s Day event. The government also announced a special recruitment drive for women Sub-Inspectors and new postgraduate courses at PG College Nahan. A ₹500 crore package was approved for upgrading Nahan Medical College.

Himachal Pradesh Announces 25% Women Quota in Class 3 Govt Jobs

Himachal Pradesh announced 25% reservation for women in Class 3 government jobs as part of new policy measures to increase women’s participation in public services. The announcement was made by the Chief Minister during an event marking International Women’s Day in Nahan, Sirmaur district. The government also unveiled education and healthcare initiatives along with recruitment measures.

 

25% Reservation for Women in Class 3 Government Jobs

The state government plans to introduce legislation to implement 25% reservation for women in Class 3 posts across government departments. The move aims to expand employment opportunities for women and increase their representation in public sector jobs. Officials stated that the policy will be introduced through a formal legislative process before implementation. Once approved, the quota will apply to upcoming recruitment drives conducted by various state departments.

 

The government also announced a special recruitment drive for women Sub-Inspectors in the Police Department. The initiative is intended to strengthen women’s participation in law enforcement and improve gender representation in the police force.

 

INR 500 Crore Package for Nahan Medical College Upgrade

Along with employment announcements, the state government approved a ₹500 crore development package for upgrading the medical infrastructure at Nahan. The funding will be used to enhance facilities and services at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan. Authorities stated that the upgrade aims to improve healthcare services and expand medical education infrastructure in the region. The investment is expected to support modern equipment, improved academic facilities, and better healthcare delivery systems.

 

New Postgraduate Courses at PG College Nahan

The government also announced the introduction of new postgraduate programmes at PG College Nahan starting from the next academic session. These programmes aim to expand higher education opportunities for students in the region. The newly introduced courses include:

  • MSc Zoology
  • MBA
  • MA History

Education officials noted that the addition of postgraduate programmes will help students pursue advanced studies locally without relocating to other cities.

 

Increase in Mahila Samman Rashi Benefit

During the event, the Chief Minister also announced an increase in the Mahila Samman Rashi benefit provided to women beneficiaries. The financial assistance under the scheme has been raised from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh. The increase is expected to provide greater financial support to eligible women and strengthen welfare initiatives targeted at women in the state. The announcements collectively focus on improving women’s employment opportunities, education access, and welfare benefits in Himachal Pradesh.
