Gunnika Khurana: Overcoming Anxiety to Achieve CBSE Class 10 Success

On April 15, 2026, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) unveiled the results for the Class 10 examinations, igniting a wave of emotions among students and parents alike. Among the standout performers was Gunnika Khurana, who achieved an impressive 99.6%. Her story is not just about academic brilliance; it encapsulates a journey marked by discipline, emotional resilience, and the unwavering support of her family.

Gunnika's path to success did not spring from a last-minute rush or a sudden epiphany. Instead, it began quietly during her time at Shiv Nadar School in Faridabad, where she has been enrolled since grade seven. Reflecting on her early years, she noted, “My parents have always been supportive and never pressured me academically. However, I felt a strong desire to make them proud.” This intrinsic motivation laid the groundwork for her academic journey.

By the time she entered grade nine, Gunnika was already mentally preparing for the board exams. “Our teachers emphasized the importance of the upcoming boards, and I adopted a proactive approach to my studies,” she explained. This mindset proved crucial as she navigated the challenges of her academic life.

Gunnika Khurana Facing Doubts and Overcoming Anxiety

While many students envision results day as a moment of triumph, Gunnika's experience was initially filled with confusion. “When I first logged in to check my results, I misread my marks and thought I had scored only 79 out of 80 in English,” she recalled. This moment of uncertainty quickly transformed into joy as she realized her overall performance.

Gunnika’s journey was not devoid of emotional struggles. She candidly shared, “During my first pre-board exams, I felt overwhelmed and cried the night before.” This vulnerability is a common experience among students facing high-stakes assessments. Fortunately, her parents provided the necessary support, helping her regain her composure and focus.

Rather than pushing through burnout, Gunnika adopted a balanced approach to her studies. “When I felt down, I would take breaks and spend time with my family, which helped refresh my mind,” she advised. This strategy of pausing and recharging proved effective, allowing her to return to her studies with renewed energy.

Gunnika Khurana Effective Study Strategies: Discipline and Active Recall

As the exams approached, Gunnika shifted her focus from learning new content to refining her understanding. “I practiced extensively with past CBSE papers instead of revisiting all the material,” she noted. This method of active recall helped solidify her knowledge and prepare her for the exam format.

Gunnika emphasized the importance of thoroughness in her studies, stating, “You must read every line of the NCERT textbooks. The difference between a good score and a perfect score often lies in the details.” Her meticulous approach to studying, including the creation of mind maps and flowcharts, allowed her to revise effectively in the final moments before the exams.

Gunnika Khurana Lessons Beyond Academics: The Importance of Emotional Support

Gunnika’s success story transcends mere academic achievement; it highlights the significance of emotional honesty and support. “It’s crucial to express your feelings and seek help when you’re struggling,” she advised. In a competitive environment, many students hesitate to share their emotional burdens, but Gunnika learned that reaching out to loved ones can provide essential relief and encouragement.

As she looks ahead to her future, Gunnika has set her sights on pursuing engineering and preparing for the JEE Mains exam. This new chapter represents another opportunity for growth and learning, and she approaches it with a clear understanding of the importance of balance and support.
