IIT Madras has started the GATE 2027 application form process today, August 27, 2026. Candidates aspiring to appear for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2027 can now register online through the official website, gate2027.iitm.ac.in. The GATE 2027 registration link is available through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS).

The registration schedule for GATE 2027 was earlier set to begin on August 14 but was subsequently revised by IIT Madras. As per the updated schedule, candidates can submit the GATE 2027 application form without a late fee until September 27, 2026. The extended application window with a late fee will remain open until October 5, 2026.

GATE 2027 Application Fee

The GATE 2027 application fee varies depending on the candidate's category. The fee mentioned below is applicable per test paper. Candidates opting for two papers will have to pay twice the applicable fee.

The extended-period fee includes an additional Rs 500 late fee per test paper. Candidates should check the final amount displayed on the application portal before making payment.

Who Can Apply for GATE 2027?

Before filling the GATE 2027 application form, candidates should check the eligibility criteria. Students currently studying in the third year or higher of an undergraduate degree programme can appear for GATE 2027.

Candidates who have already completed a government-approved degree programme in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Science, Commerce, Arts or Humanities are also eligible, subject to the applicable requirements.

There is no age limit for appearing in GATE 2027, and there is no restriction on the number of attempts.
