The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026) registration process will close today, October 13, 2025, with a late fee. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the organizing body for this year’s exam, has confirmed that the application window will not reopen after today. Interested candidates must apply through the official website — gate2026.iitg.ac.in. The GATE 2026 exam is scheduled to be conducted on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, 2026 across two shifts each day. The registration process has been active since late August, and this extended period is the final opportunity for candidates to submit their forms.
GATE 2026 Registration Deadline and Application Fee
Candidates applying on the last day are required to pay an additional late fee. The application process is completely online through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS 2026).
The payment can be made using a credit card, debit card, UPI, or net banking. Candidates are advised to retain the payment receipt for future reference.
Steps to Apply for GATE 2026 During the Extended Period
Candidates who have not yet registered can complete their GATE 2026 application by following the steps below:
- Visit the official website — gate2026.iitg.ac.in
- Click on the “Apply Online” link
- Register using basic details such as name, mobile number, and email ID
- Create an enrollment ID and password
- Log in and fill in academic and personal details
- Upload required documents — photo, signature, and ID proof
- Pay the application fee and submit the form
- Download and save the confirmation page for future use
Applicants belonging to PwD or dyslexic categories must also upload a medical certificate in PDF format, while SC/ST candidates are required to upload their category certificates.
GATE 2026 Application Status and Correction Window
After successful submission, candidates can check their application status through the GOAPS 2026 portal by logging in with their enrollment ID and password. Those who receive any discrepancy notifications must correct them within the specified timeline. The GATE 2026 correction facility is expected to begin in the first week of November, and candidates will be able to make changes to details such as name, paper, and exam centre. The last date to make corrections is likely November 6, 2025.
GATE 2026 Exam Schedule and Admit Card Release
The GATE 2026 exam will be held in two shifts —
- Shift 1: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM
- Shift 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
The GATE 2026 admit card will be available for download from January 2, 2026, at the GOAPS portal. Candidates must use their enrollment ID and password to access it.
