GATE 2026 Last Date to Apply: Fee, Eligibility, Documents & Pattern

The GATE 2026 application process at IIT Guwahati will close for registration without late fee on 28 September 2025. Candidates aiming to apply for MTech or PhD programmes must submit their forms before the deadline to avoid late fee charges.

 

GATE 2026 Application Process Overview

The GATE 2026 application window opened on 28 August 2025 at the GOAPS portal. Candidates must create an account at the GATE candidate login 2026 to register for the exam. The application without late fee will remain active till 28 September 2025.

 

How to Apply for GATE 2026?

Candidates must follow these steps to complete their registration:

  1. Visit the official website: gate2026.iitg.ac.in.
  2. Click on the application portal and register with name, mobile number, and email.
  3. Receive an enrollment ID and create a password to login.
  4. Fill in all required personal, academic, and contact details.
  5. Upload photograph, signature, and other necessary documents as per specifications.
  6. Pay the GATE 2026 exam fee and submit the form.
  7. Take a printout of the submitted application for reference.

 

GATE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must be in the third year, final year, or have completed graduation in:

  • Engineering/Technology
  • Architecture
  • Science
  • Commerce
  • Arts/Humanities

 

Documents Required for GATE 2026

Applicants must upload:

  • Recent photograph and signature
  • Valid ID proof
  • SC/ST candidates: Caste certificate
  • PwD or dyslexic candidates: Medical or PwD certificate

No certificates are required for EWS or OBC-NCL candidates.

GATE 2026 Exam Dates and Pattern

The GATE 2026 exam will be conducted online on 7, 8, 14, and 15 February 2026 in two shifts:

  • Morning shift: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
  • Afternoon shift: 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM
