GATE 2026 Day 3, February 14 Shift 2 Exam Starts at 2:30 PM – ME Paper Updates

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 entered its third day today, February 14, with the afternoon Shift 2 exam beginning at 2:30 PM. The session is conducted by IIT Guwahati for the Mechanical Engineering (ME) paper, with a three-hour online exam scheduled to end at 5:30 PM. Earlier today, Shift 1 concluded at 12:30 PM for Civil Engineering (CE), Electrical Engineering (EE), and Production & Industrial Engineering (PI). Shift 2 marks the start of the afternoon session, with strict IIT Guwahati protocols in place to ensure a fair and smooth examination process.

 

GATE 2026 Reporting Time and Entry Guidelines for Shift 2

All candidates must report at least 90 minutes before the exam for:

  • Document verification
  • Biometric authentication
  • Seating allocation

Late entry will not be permitted under any circumstances.

 

GATE 2026 Documents and Items Required

Students must carry:

  • Printed GATE 2026 admit card
  • Valid photo ID proof
  • Transparent water bottle
  • Pen or pencil for rough work

Note: Digital copies of the admit card will not be accepted.

 

Prohibited Items in the ME GATE 2026 Exam Hall

IIT Guwahati has strictly banned:

  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators, Bluetooth devices, and other electronics
  • Bags, books, printed notes, or study materials
  • Packaged food or snacks (except water)

Scribe candidates with board-approved allowances may carry assistive devices.

 

GATE 2026 ME Exam Instructions & Online Platform

The exam is computer-based, with each candidate assigned a terminal with an onscreen calculator. Students may log in 20 minutes prior to read instructions and confirm system readiness.

 

Candidates must:

  • Remain seated until instructed
  • Follow all invigilation rules strictly
  • Avoid communication or misconduct in the exam hall
