GATE 2026 exam was conducted across multiple dates and question formats

The GATE 2026 examination was held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February 2026 in computer-based test mode for various engineering and science papers. The question paper included Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions designed to test analytical and conceptual understanding. This year’s GATE is an important gateway for MTech and PhD admissions at IITs, NITs and other institutes, as well as recruitment by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

Candidates will get a limited window to raise objections to the provisional key

After the provisional GATE 2026 answer key is released, candidates will have a specified period during which they can raise objections if they find discrepancies in any answer. Each objection requires submission through the GOAPS portal with supporting justification and payment of a prescribed fee. Subject experts will review all challenges, and if found valid, the provisional key may be revised. The final answer key will be used to prepare the official result.

The GATE 2026 result is scheduled for 19 March 2026 based on the final key

According to the official schedule, the GATE 2026 result will be declared on 19 March 2026. This score will be valid for three years and can be used for both higher education admissions and PSU recruitment. Candidates must keep their login credentials ready to access results and scorecards once available.

Provisional and unofficial keys have already been published by educational platforms

While official answer keys are yet to be issued, several educational platforms have already released unofficial GATE 2026 answer keys and solutions for candidates’ early reference to help estimate scores. These unofficial keys are based on expert analysis and student feedback but are not official results.

Understanding the official answer key helps estimate probable raw scores

Downloading the official provisional answer key and cross-checking with the response sheet allows candidates to calculate probable raw marks before result day. This enables students to plan admissions, counselling and next steps based on predicted performance.
