The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has officially announced the registration schedule for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) December 2025 session. The online application window will open on November 14, 2025, on the official website —natboard.edu.in. Candidates aspiring to obtain a medical license in India after completing their studies abroad can register for the exam before December 4, 2025, the final date for submission.
FMGE December 2025 Registration Details
NBEMS released an official notification outlining the complete schedule for FMGE December 2025. The notice also urged candidates to verify their eligibility criteria before applying, as incomplete or inaccurate details could lead to rejection of applications. The FMGE admit card is tentatively scheduled to be released on January 12, 2026, while the examination will be conducted on January 17, 2026, across various test centres in India. The results are expected on February 17, 2026.
Exam Overview and Eligibility Criteria
The FMGE is a mandatory screening test conducted twice a year — in June and December — for Indian and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have earned their medical degrees from foreign universities and wish to practice medicine in India. Applicants must possess a valid primary medical qualification recognised by the relevant medical authority of the foreign country and must submit proof of qualification by the application deadline. NBEMS has also advised candidates to keep scanned copies of documents such as a passport, a degree certificate, an eligibility proof, and a latest photograph ready before initiating the registration process.
Next Steps After Registration
Once registered, candidates will be allotted test centres and issued admit cards ahead of the January session. The exam will be held in computer-based mode and will consist of multiple-choice questions designed to assess the candidate’s understanding of medical fundamentals and clinical skills. Following the exam, results will be declared on February 17, 2026, and qualified candidates will be eligible to apply for provisional or permanent registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC).
