Delhi Government Opens Scholarship Applications for SC, ST, and OBC Students for 2025-26

The Government of Delhi has officially opened the application process for various scholarship schemes aimed at students belonging to the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) for the academic year 2025-26. This initiative is part of the government's ongoing effort to support educational advancement among marginalized communities.

According to the official announcement, the Delhi government is providing a range of financial assistance options through five state-funded schemes and multiple centrally sponsored programs. These scholarships are designed for eligible students enrolled in schools, colleges, and universities throughout Delhi.

  • Tuition Fee Reimbursement: This scheme offers reimbursement for tuition fees and other mandatory charges for SC, ST, and OBC students in Classes 1 to 12 attending recognized schools in Delhi.
  • Merit-Based Scholarships: Students pursuing professional, technical, and higher education courses can benefit from financial assistance ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 24,000 annually, depending on their course level and whether they reside in hostels or commute.
  • Dr. BR Ambedkar State Topper Award: This award grants Rs 25,000 to the top-performing students from SC, ST, and OBC categories across various disciplines in universities.
  • Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Pratibha Yojana: This program aims to support talented students meeting specific income and academic criteria.
  • Financial Assistance for Higher Studies Abroad: SC students aspiring to pursue master's degrees or PhDs abroad can receive financial support, subject to income limits and other eligibility conditions.

Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship

To qualify for these scholarships, students must adhere to certain eligibility requirements:

  • For tuition fee reimbursement, applicants' family income must not exceed Rs 3 lakh per year.
  • Students must maintain a minimum academic performance, securing at least 60 percent marks in their previous academic year.
  • Attendance requirements must also be met to ensure continued eligibility.

 Scholarship Impact on Students

The introduction of these scholarship schemes is a significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. By alleviating the financial burden associated with education, the Delhi government aims to empower SC, ST, and OBC students to pursue their academic goals without the constraints of economic hardship.

These initiatives not only support students in their immediate educational pursuits but also contribute to long-term societal benefits by fostering a more educated and skilled workforce. As students take advantage of these scholarships, they are likely to experience improved academic performance and greater career opportunities in the future.
