Delhi private schools have released the nursery admission criteria for 2026–27, placing proximity as the most important factor in their 100-point systems. Admission forms will be issued from December 4, 2025, and parents have until December 27, 2025, to submit applications. The points-based system also rewards sibling, alumni, and staff connections, while age eligibility remains strictly enforced.
Admission Timeline and Process for Delhi Nursery 2026–27
The admission process for roughly 1,740 private schools in Delhi has officially opened, though some schools were still updating criteria by the DoE deadline of November 28, 2025. Forms are available both online and offline, and schools may insist on physical submission in some cases. The first shortlisted candidate list is expected on January 23, 2026, with subsequent draw-of-lots, grievance windows, and second lists depending on availability. Delhi nursery admissions for 2026–27 are structured under a 100-point system where proximity is prioritized, along with points for siblings, alumni, and staff connections. The following table summarises the admission timeline for parents and guardians.
Points Distribution Across Major Delhi Schools
Several schools have disclosed their points allocation, which heavily favours neighbourhood proximity. The distribution varies across institutions, with sibling, alumni, staff, and first-born child points also included. Delhi private schools follow a proximity-centric point system for nursery admissions. Points are assigned to siblings, alumni, staff wards, and distance from school, creating a competitive scenario for applicants in South and Southwest Delhi.
DoE Oversight and Compliance
Schools failing to comply with the DoE’s standardized admission framework or the 100-point system will face warnings. Management quotas remain capped at 20%, strictly enforced. Parents are advised to monitor DoE portal disclosures to confirm school compliance and cut-offs.
Preparing for High Competition in Nursery Admissions
With admissions opening soon, parents must track school uploads, neighbourhood cut-offs, and sibling/alumni points. Competition is particularly intense in South and Southwest Delhi, where premium schools receive the highest applications per available seat.
