The Delhi EWS Second Merit List for 2026 is expected to be released after April 22, 2026. Here's what you need to know about the admission process.

Delhi EWS Second Merit List 2026: Key Dates and Details

The Directorate of Education (DoE) for the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi has recently announced the results of the first computerized lottery draw for admissions under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Disadvantaged Group (DG), and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) categories for the academic year 2026–27. The initial draw results were made public on April 6, 2026, and the anticipation for the second merit list is building as the document verification phase is currently in progress.

The second merit list is expected to be released shortly after April 22, 2026. This timeline is based on the admission schedule, which indicates that the second draw will follow the first, and a third list will be published to address any remaining vacant seats.

The rationale for this timeline is clear: the second draw aims to fill seats that remain unoccupied due to non-reporting or document rejections during the verification stage. The DoE has yet to confirm an official release date, and as such, students and parents should remain attentive to updates.

Document Verification Process

Document verification for candidates selected in the first draw is taking place from April 9 to April 22, 2026. It is crucial for applicants to complete this verification within the designated window. A final opportunity for those who miss this initial phase will be available from April 23 to April 28, 2026.

Given that the release of the second draw depends on the identification of vacancies resulting from this verification process, it would be premature to expect the second list before the conclusion of the primary verification window. Reports suggesting a release date of April 20 appear to be speculative and not based on official communication from the DoE.

Eligibility Criteria and Required Documents

To qualify for admission under the EWS category, applicants must ensure that their family’s annual income does not exceed ₹5 lakh. Acceptable proof of residence includes:

  • Ration card
  • Domicile certificate
  • Voter ID card
  • Utility bills
  • Passport

It is important to note that only the documents listed above will be accepted. Candidates who encounter discrepancies in their submitted documents have until May 2, 2026, to submit revised versions. Zonal authorities will review these documents and issue reasoned orders between May 4 and May 6, 2026. Should there be any appeals, they can be filed with the District Admission Monitoring Committee from May 7 to May 12, 2026, with final decisions expected by May 16, 2026.

Support for Applicants

To facilitate the admission process, a total of 29 zonal teams have been established across 15 districts. Each team is comprised of a zonal Deputy Director of Education (DDE), a section officer or equivalent, and two data entry operators, all operating under the supervision of District Deputy Directors of Education. Additionally, a single-window help desk is available at district offices to assist applicants with their queries.

Parents can check the results of the lottery draw on the official website edudel.nic.in by entering their Application ID or Registration Number along with the date of birth. Selected candidates will also receive notifications via SMS on their registered mobile numbers, providing details about allotment and verification.
