CUET UG 2026 Banned Items, Required Documents and Exam Day Guidelines Released

NTA has issued CUET UG 2026 exam day guidelines including banned items, required documents, reporting time and permitted materials.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official CUET UG 2026 banned items list and exam day instructions for candidates appearing in the undergraduate entrance examination. Students appearing for the Common University Entrance Test must carry mandatory documents and avoid restricted items to prevent disqualification.
CUET UG 2026 is being conducted from May 11 to May 31 for over 15 lakh registered candidates across the country. According to official information, candidates must strictly follow the examination guidelines issued by NTA before entering the exam hall.
CUET UG 2026 Exam Day Key Details
CUET UG 2026 Required Documents
Candidates must carry the required documents to the examination centre for verification. Entry may be denied if any mandatory document is missing. According to the official instructions, students must bring:
- Printed copy of CUET UG 2026 admit card
- Two passport-size photographs
- Valid government-issued photo ID proof
- Self-declaration form, if mentioned on admit card
Candidates are advised to carry the same identity proof that was uploaded during the CUET UG application process.
CUET UG 2026 Banned Items List
NTA has issued a strict list of prohibited items for the CUET UG 2026 examination. Candidates found carrying restricted items may face cancellation of candidature. The following items are banned inside the examination hall:
- Mobile phones
- Bluetooth devices
- Earphones and microphones
- Smart watches and wrist watches
- Calculators
- Pen drives and scanners
- Geometry boxes
- Paper chits or written notes
- Wallets and handbags
- Metallic ornaments and accessories
- Cameras
- Log tables
- Electronic pens
- Packed food items
- Covered water bottles
Any material that can be used for unfair means is prohibited inside the examination centre.
Permitted Items in CUET UG 2026 Exam Hall
Along with the banned items list, NTA has also clarified what students are allowed to carry during the exam. Permissible items include:
- Transparent water bottle
- Transparent ballpoint pen
- Admit card and ID proof
- Diabetic eatables with prior approval
Candidates wearing religious attire or articles of faith such as “kalava” have been permitted, but they must report early for additional security checks.
CUET UG 2026 Reporting Time and Dress Code
Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre at least two hours before the commencement of the examination. The gates will close 30 minutes before the scheduled exam time, and late entry will not be allowed under any circumstances. For dress code, students should avoid:
- Heavy jewellery
- Caps and scarves
- Metallic accessories
- Thick-soled shoes
Simple and comfortable clothing is recommended for faster frisking and verification at the centre.
CUET UG 2026: Over 15 Lakh Candidates Registered
CUET UG continues to remain one of India’s biggest undergraduate entrance exams. This year, more than 15.68 lakh candidates have registered for the examination across 37 subjects. English emerged as the most opted subject with around 1.64 lakh candidates selecting it.
Compared to previous years, NTA has tightened security measures further in 2026 by introducing stricter frisking protocols and detailed guidelines regarding electronic gadgets and accessories.

Candidates can follow these steps to download the CUET UG 2026 admit card:
- Visit the official CUET website
- Click on the CUET UG 2026 admit card link
- Enter application number and date of birth
- Submit the details
- Download the admit card PDF
- Take a clear printout for exam day
Candidates should verify all details mentioned on the admit card before the examination date.
Important Instructions for CUET UG 2026 Candidates
Students must carefully read all instructions printed on the admit card. NTA has advised candidates not to rely on unauthorized information circulating on social media regarding dress code or permitted items.
Candidates should also avoid carrying expensive personal belongings as storage facilities may not be available at every exam centre.
