Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2026 Papers I & II

Applicants must check which paper to choose based on the classes they wish to teach (Classes I–V or VI–VIII). The eligibility criteria differ accordingly.

  • Paper I (Classes I–V): Candidates must have passed Class XII with minimum marks required or hold a 2‑year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.), or other specified equivalent qualification.
  • Paper II (Classes VI–VIII): Applicants must hold a graduation degree with minimum required percentage and a B.Ed or a four‑year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed. or a two‑year D.El.Ed. after graduation.

Meeting eligibility does not by itself guarantee a teaching post; clearing the exam is the first step.

What Applicants Should Do Next?

The upcoming steps for interested candidates are:

  • Regularly visit the official CTET website (ctet.nic.in) for the full notification.
  • Read the information bulletin thoroughly once released, including syllabus, pattern, exam cities and other instructions.
  • Prepare for the offline (pen‑and‑paper) mode exam scheduled for 8 February 2026.
  • Organise documents, photographic signature, payment method and preferred test centre choices ahead of the registration window.
