The Central Teacher Eligibility Test for the 2025 session is poised for a major update. The conducting body, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), has set the exam date for 8 February 2026 — covering what is being termed the CTET 2025/26 cycle.

 

Updated Exam Date & Format of CTET 2025

Several key details about the upcoming CTET 2025 cycle are now available:

  • The exam will be held on Sunday, 8 February 2026 across the country.
  • It will be conducted in around 132 cities and in 20 different languages.
  • The test comprises two papers: Paper 1 for teachers of Classes 1–5 and Paper 2 for Classes 6–8.

 

Notification Release & Application Process

While the exam date has been finalised, the full notification and application start are yet to go live. Key points ahead:

  • The detailed notification (information bulletin) with eligibility criteria, fee structure, exam cities and procedure will be released on the official site.
  • The application form link will follow the notification. Candidates will have to register, fill in personal and educational details, upload photo and signature, pay fee and submit online.
  • Fee details: For previous cycles, the general category application fees were approx. INR 1,000 for one Paper and INR 1,200 for both Papers.

  • No upper age limit; minimum age requirement is usually 18 years.
