CTET for Classes 9-12 will not be conducted till 2027. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has clarified that the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) will not be expanded to four levels covering Classes 9 to 12 before 2027. The upcoming CTET 2025 will only commence for Classes 1 to 8, with the official notification expected in August 2025.
NCTE Clarification on Four-Level CTET
NCTE chairperson Pankaj Arora stated that no decision has been made to introduce a four-level CTET before 2027. This change will only be considered once the first batch of Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) graduates completes their course in 2027. NCTE also confirmed it has not directed CBSE to conduct CTET for Classes 9 to 12 at present.
