The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the eligibility criteria for the CSIR-UGC NET December 2025 exam. CSIR NET Age Limit 2025
The age limit varies depending on the post:
- CSIR JRF: Maximum age is 30 years as of December 1, 2025.
- Relaxation: 5 years for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD/PwBD, Third gender candidates, and women applicants.
- Assistant Professor & PhD Admission: No upper age limit.
Minimum Educational Qualification
Candidates must fulfil the following qualification requirements:
- Master’s Degree: 55% marks for General/EWS; 50% for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/PwBD/Third gender.
- 4-Year/8-Semester Bachelor’s Degree: Minimum 75% marks (relaxation of 5% for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/ PwD/EWS/Other categories).
- Final-year students or candidates awaiting results can also apply.
- PhD holders who completed Master’s by September 19, 1991, get a 5% relaxation.
- Candidates with foreign qualifications must obtain UGC equivalence.
Other Important Eligibility Notes
- Applicants of the Third gender category enjoy the same relaxation as SC/ST/PwD candidates.
- All candidates must meet nationality requirements and provide accurate educational details.
