CSIR-Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CMERI) has extended the last date for CSIR CMERI Technician Recruitment 2026. The recruitment drive is being conducted for 27 Technician (1) Group-II posts across seven trades.
The online application process started on July 4, 2026. As per the latest notification, eligible candidates can now submit applications until September 13, 2026, up to 5:00 PM. The posts are available at CSIR-CMERI, Durgapur, West Bengal, and its Extension Centre, Centre of Excellence for Farm Machinery, Ludhiana, Punjab.

The application deadline was initially August 3 and was later extended to August 14. CSIR-CMERI has now further extended the deadline to September 13, 2026. Candidates who have already submitted applications must log in again to upload their photograph and required documents, as instructed by the institute.

CSIR-CMERI has announced 27 vacancies across seven technical trades. Fitter has the highest number of vacancies with 14 posts.
Two of the 27 posts are reserved horizontally for Ex-Servicemen. The selected candidates may be posted to different divisions depending on the institute's requirements and suitability.
CSIR CMERI Technician Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates applying for CSIR CMERI Technician Recruitment 2026 must meet the prescribed educational and age requirements.
Educational Qualification
For the respective trade, candidates must have:
- Passed SSC/10th standard or equivalent with Science subjects.
- Secured at least 55% marks.
- Possess an ITI certificate or National/State Trade Certificate in the relevant trade.
Candidates may also qualify through either of the following routes:
- 10th with 55% marks plus two years of full-time apprenticeship experience in the relevant trade.
- 10th with 55% marks plus three years of work experience in the relevant trade in a Government department, PSU, autonomous body or similar organisation.
The qualification must correspond to the trade for which the candidate applies.
CSIR CMERI Technician Age Limit 2026
The minimum age is 18 years, while the maximum age is 28 years as prescribed in the notification.
Age relaxation is available for eligible categories as per Government of India and CSIR rules.
The age and qualification cut-off date specified in the original notification was August 3, 2026.
CSIR CMERI Technician Application Fee 2026
Candidates must pay the application fee through State Bank Collect wherever applicable.
The INR 500 fee is non-refundable. Candidates applying for multiple post codes must pay the applicable fee separately for each post code.
CSIR CMERI Technician Selection Process 2026
The selection process includes screening, a qualifying Trade Test and a Competitive Written Examination.

The Trade Test will be qualifying in nature. Candidates who qualify in the Trade Test will be called for the written examination. The final merit list will be prepared using marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III of the written examination.
CSIR CMERI Technician Exam Pattern 2026
The written examination will be conducted in OMR or computer-based objective format. It will contain 150 questions and the total duration will be 2 hours 30 minutes.
There is no negative marking in Paper-I. Paper-II and Paper-III carry one negative mark for every wrong answer. Questions will generally be available in English and Hindi, except questions on English Language.
