The Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka has officially released the COMEDK UGET 2026 eligibility criteria on its website. Candidates planning to apply for undergraduate engineering admissions through COMEDK must carefully review the revised requirements before registration. As per the notification, three significant changes have been introduced this year, impacting subject combinations and ranking rules.
Key Changes Introduced in COMEDK UGET 2026 Eligibility
The eligibility framework for COMEDK UGET has been updated to provide more flexibility while maintaining academic standards. The major changes announced for 2026 are outlined below. Firstly, candidates are no longer restricted to Chemistry alone as a compulsory subject. Along with Physics and Mathematics, applicants can now opt for Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics in place of Chemistry, with English remaining mandatory. Secondly, candidates must have passed all individual subjects, including optional and additional subjects. Failure in any subject will make the applicant ineligible for admission. Thirdly, candidates who score zero marks in the COMEDK UGET 2026 examination will not be assigned any rank, even if they meet other eligibility requirements.
Nationality and Academic Qualification Requirements
Candidates eligible to appear for COMEDK UGET 2026 include:
- Indian citizens
- Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)
The qualifying examination for B.E./B.Tech admission must be 10+2 / second PUC or an equivalent examination recognised by a State or Central government authority. The last two years of study must include:
- Physics
- Mathematics
- English
- One optional subject from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics
Minimum Marks Required for COMEDK UGET 2026
To be eligible for admission through COMEDK, candidates must secure minimum aggregate marks in the qualifying examination. The required marks are:
- 45% aggregate in Physics, Mathematics, and the chosen optional subject for General Merit candidates
- 40% aggregate for SC, ST, and OBC candidates of Karnataka State
All three subjects must be passed individually, and aggregate marks will be calculated accordingly.
Important Subject and Board-Related Conditions
Candidates must note that:
- All subjects should be passed from a single recognised board
- Marks cards from two different boards will not be accepted
- Diploma holders are not eligible, as there is no provision for lateral entry admissions
An attempt in the COMEDK UGET examination is sufficient for inclusion in the rank list, provided the candidate does not score zero marks.
