CLAT UG Counselling 2025 first allotment list for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2025 counselling has been released by the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) today, 26th May, 2025. Candidates participating in the CLAT UG counselling can view their seat allotment status on the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in.
According to the official notification, seat allotment will be made only for the NLUs included in a candidate’s preference list. For instance, if a candidate has selected only fifteen preferences, they will be considered for allotment exclusively within those fifteen choices, even if vacancies exist at other NLUs. This applies even if the candidate’s merit position might otherwise qualify them for seats at other institutions.
CLAT UG Counselling 2025: Admission Process Overview
The CLAT UG 2025 counselling process will be conducted in three rounds. Candidates whose names appear in the first allotment list can select one of the following options based on their admission preferences and must pay the confirmation fee by 30th May, 2025:
- Freeze Option: Candidates satisfied with their allotted seat and who do not wish to participate in further rounds can choose the 'Freeze' option to confirm their seat and exit the counselling process.
- Float Option: Candidates who are not allotted their top-choice NLU and want to remain eligible for a higher preference in the upcoming rounds can select the 'Float' option. This allows them to retain their current seat while keeping open the possibility of a better allotment.
- Exit Option: Candidates who wish to withdraw from the counselling process at any stage after registration may choose the 'Exit' option. If a candidate had previously selected 'Freeze' or 'Float', their allotted seat will be reallocated to another applicant, and the confirmation fee will be forfeited
CLAT UG 2025: Seat Freeze Confirmation and Second Allotment Schedule
To confirm their seat under the 'Freeze' option in the first, second, or third round of CLAT UG 2025 counselling, candidates are required to pay a non-refundable confirmation fee of INR 20,000.
The second allotment list is scheduled to be released on 4th June, 2025. Candidates allotted seats in this round must complete the fee payment and admission formalities with the respective National Law Universities (NLUs) between 4th June and 9th June, 2025.
