CLAT 2026 Second Merit List to Be Released for NLU Admissions

The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) will release the CLAT 2026 second merit list as part of the ongoing centralised counselling and seat allotment process for undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes. Candidates shortlisted in the second list will become eligible for admission to participating NLUs based on their CLAT 2026 rank, category, and availability of seats.

CLAT 2026 Second Allotment List Details

The second merit list will include candidates who will either receive fresh seat allotments or upgrades from earlier rounds. Seat allocation will be carried out in accordance with the official counselling rules and reservation policies. Candidates who receive seat allotments will be required to confirm their acceptance within the prescribed deadline.

Admission Confirmation Process After Second Merit List

Candidates allotted seats in the second round will need to:

  • Accept the allotted seat within the specified time
  • Pay the confirmation fee as notified
  • Upload required documents for verification

Failure to complete these steps within the deadline may lead to cancellation of the allotted seat and exclusion from further rounds.

What Will Happen Next in CLAT 2026 Counselling?

After completion of the second round, the Consortium will conduct additional merit list and allotment rounds based on vacant seats across NLUs. Candidates who are not satisfied with their allotment will be able to opt for upgradation in subsequent rounds, subject to seat availability. The counselling process will continue until all available seats are filled.

Importance of the Second Merit List

The CLAT 2026 second merit list will be crucial for candidates who narrowly miss selection in the first round. It will offer another opportunity to secure admission to NLUs offering BA LLB, BBA LLB, LLM, and other law programmes. Candidates will be advised to closely monitor official notifications and adhere strictly to deadlines to avoid missing admission opportunities.
