CLAT 2026 Provisional Answer Key Release Date and Result Timeline

The provisional answer key is the first official document that allows candidates to verify their attempted answers against the responses published by the Consortium. As per the official schedule, the CLAT 2026 result is expected in December 2025, followed by the counselling process in January 2026 for admissions to undergraduate and postgraduate law programmes across NLUs. How to Check CLAT 2026 Provisional Answer Key and Calculate Score?

Once the provisional answer key is released, candidates must carefully match each response with their own recorded answers. This helps in estimating a tentative score well before the official result declaration. Since the CLAT marking scheme includes negative marking, accuracy in calculation becomes crucial for realistic assessment. Before accessing the answer key, candidates should keep their login credentials ready. The following steps explain the standard process to view the answer key after release.

• Visit the official CLAT portal
• Click on the CLAT 2026 section
• Log in using registered credentials
• Open the provisional answer key link
• Download and save the file for reference
• Use the official marking scheme to calculate the expected score

CLAT 2026 Objection Window and Final Answer Key Process

The CLAT 2026 objection window will remain active for a limited period of 2 to 3 days after the provisional answer key is released. During this phase, candidates can submit challenges against any answer they find incorrect, along with valid academic justification. Each objection is reviewed by subject experts before the final key is finalized. Once all objections are examined, the Consortium will publish the CLAT 2026 final answer key, which will be considered binding for result preparation. No further challenges will be entertained after this stage. The release of the provisional answer key marks a crucial milestone for CLAT aspirants as it provides early clarity on performance and likely rank range before counselling begins.
