The CLAT 2026 examination has officially begun today across various test centers in India. Thousands of candidates appeared for the national-level law entrance test to secure admission into NLUs, UG law courses, and PG law programs. Security at all centers remains tight with strict verification and frisking protocols in place. The CLAT exam is being conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets, and candidates were advised to reach their allotted centers well before the reporting time to avoid last-minute disqualification.
CLAT 2026 Exam Timings, Reporting Time, and Entry Rules
Candidates were required to strictly follow exam-day timelines issued by the authorities. Any delay beyond the gate closing time led to denial of entry at several centers. Before checking the schedule details, it is important to note that the conducting body implemented enhanced frisking and biometric verification at all locations. Candidates were allowed to carry only limited items as prescribed in the official guidelines.
CLAT 2026 Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
Before attempting the paper, candidates were briefed about the structure and marking scheme. The CLAT Exam Pattern tests both legal and general aptitude. The paper consists of the following sections:
- English Language
- Current Affairs and GK
- Legal Reasoning
- Logical Reasoning
- Quantitative Techniques
Each correct answer carries 1 mark, while 0.25 mark is deducted for every incorrect response.
Strict Dress Code, Documents, and Prohibited Items
Entry was allowed only after proper verification of the CLAT admit card and valid photo identity proof. Candidates wearing prohibited clothing or carrying restricted items were not permitted inside the examination hall. The following items were strictly prohibited:
- Mobile phones
- Smart watches
- Calculators
- Bluetooth devices
- Written notes or chits
Candidates were allowed to carry only a transparent water bottle and essential documents.
CLAT 2026 Admission Through Participating NLUs
Performance in the CLAT 2026 exam will be used for admission into 5-year LLB, 3-year LLB, and LLM programs offered by participating National Law Universities. The counselling process will begin after the declaration of results and merit lists.
