The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) have announced early timetables for Class X and XII board exams 2026, allowing schools and students to plan preparations in advance. Early schedules are expected to benefit students by providing clarity on exam dates, revision periods, and pre-board examinations. According to Gargi Banerjee, principal of Sri Sri Academy (CISCE), the timetable was announced about three weeks in advance, helping schools plan pre-board exams and year-end junior school events. Early schedules also allow teachers to structure revisions and special sessions effectively, ensuring students receive targeted support.
CISCE Board Exam Schedule 2026
The CISCE Class X and XII exams have been scheduled as follows:
The early timetable allows schools to finalise pre-board exams, plan revision classes, and schedule year-end school events without conflict, ensuring a smoother academic workflow.
CBSE Board Exam Schedule 2026
CBSE has also released the Class X and XII exam dates, with exams starting simultaneously for both classes on February 17, 2026:
Early notification helps students prioritise subjects based on gaps between exams and plan revisions accordingly. Madhumita Sengupta, principal of BDM International, highlighted that awareness of gaps enables students to allocate time efficiently and focus on challenging subjects.
Advantages of Early Timetables
Teachers can now implement strategic planning for revision and doubt-clearing sessions, while students can develop personalised preparation routines. Rodney Borneo, principal of St Augustine’s Day School, stated that teachers can schedule focused revisions once the board timetable is available. Similarly, Satabdi Bhattacharjee, principal of The Newtown School, noted that question banks and model answers are being distributed in line with the timetable for optimal preparation. For students, this is an opportunity to balance hard work with smart planning, adhering to timelines and maximising efficiency across subjects. Early schedules also provide a structured approach to pre-boards, helping students adjust their preparation strategy based on exam gaps.
Ensuring Efficient Exam Preparation
By releasing the board exam timetables early, both CISCE and CBSE ensure that students and schools can manage time, resources, and curriculum effectively, promoting better performance. The early schedule reduces last-minute confusion and allows for focused learning, targeted revisions, and stress management ahead of crucial board examinations.
