Chhattisgarh’s Economic Offences Wing has filed a 3,000‑page charge sheet alleging that the Revenue Inspector departmental exam paper was leaked to over 100 candidates before the test. Candidates were allegedly given the paper at hotels and resorts prior to the 07 January 2024 examination.
Chhattisgarh Exam Paper Leak: Candidates Given Exam Paper at Hotels, Resorts, Charge Sheet Filed after investigators allege a large‑scale malpractice scheme involving the Revenue Inspector (RI) departmental examination. The Chhattisgarh Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has filed a detailed 3,000‑page charge sheet before a Raipur court alleging that the exam question paper was leaked to select candidates prior to the recruitment test scheduled on 07 January 2024. According to the charge sheet, questions were provided to candidates at hotels, farmhouses and resorts where they were accommodated before the exam date. Digital evidence and communication analysis reportedly form part of the case submitted to the court.
Allegations and Arrests in the Leak Case
The charge sheet names two assistant statistical officers — Virendra Jadav and Hemant Kumar Kaushik — as primary accused in the paper leak. Authorities allege that they collaborated with others to provide the question paper to candidates in exchange for money, compromising the integrity of the examination. Officials say financial transaction records and call detail analysis indicate the accused and certain candidates shared associations at the same locations on the night before the exam.Investigators also reportedly found similar answer patterns and marks among those candidates, suggesting prior access to the leaked paper.
How the Paper Leak Allegedly Occurred?
The EOW alleges that candidates from different districts were brought to designated hotels and resorts ahead of the RI exam. At these locations:
- They were provided the exam question paper well before the scheduled date.
- Assisting relatives and associates reportedly coordinated housing and logistics.
- Some candidates allegedly prepared notes based on the leaked paper.
- Officials claim that those notes were later destroyed before the exam to conceal evidence.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have indicated that supplementary charge sheets may be filed as further evidence is collected.
Implications for Recruitment Exams and Integrity
This case exposes serious vulnerabilities in the conduct of departmental recruitment examinations. The alleged scheme not only involves misuse of confidential exam materials, but also raises questions about exam security, logistical oversight, and administrative accountability. The EOW continues to investigate to identify all individuals involved, including possible intermediaries and candidates who facilitated the breach. Further action will depend on the evidence emerging from ongoing inquiry and legal proceedings. As the case unfolds, it underscores the need for stringent measures to safeguard examination processes and uphold fairness in competitive recruitments across the state.
