How the CFA Result 2025 Is Interpreted?

The CFA Institute shares a detailed performance report with every candidate. This report helps students understand their standing and how close they were to the passing benchmark.

Key elements of the CFA result include:

  • Minimum Passing Score (MPS):A thin grey line marks the minimum score needed to pass. Candidates must score above this benchmark.
  • Candidate’s Score (Bold Grey Line):This thicker line shows the candidate’s actual performance. If it appears above the MPS, the student has passed.
  • Confidence Interval (Light Blue Box):This box shows the 90% confidence range of the candidate’s true score. High scorers usually have this box fully above the MPS.
  • 90th Percentile (Purple Dashed Line):This indicates that 10% of candidates scored higher than this level.
  • 10th Percentile (Black Dotted Line):This line shows the score above which 90% of students performed.

These indicators help candidates understand not just their result status, but also how they performed compared to other test-takers globally.

What Candidates Should Expect Next?

Candidates who pass the exam will move on to the next level of the CFA program. Those who do not meet the MPS can reattempt the exam in the next cycle. The CFA Institute encourages candidates to review their performance insights to plan their future preparation.

The result release on January 13 and January 15, 2026 marks an important date for thousands of CFA aspirants aiming for a global investment career.
