The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has commenced practical examinations for Classes 10 and 12 for the 2025–26 academic session. Schools affiliated with CBSE have been directed to strictly follow board norms while conducting practicals, internal assessments, and project work.
Practical Exam Schedule 2026
- Start Date: January 1, 2026
- End Date: February 14, 2026 (for regular schools)
During this period, schools must complete all practical exams, internal assessments, and project evaluations within the prescribed timeline. Marks must be uploaded on the same day the assessment is conducted. Once submitted, changes or edits will not be permitted.
Strict Instructions for Schools
CBSE has issued clear instructions to ensure smooth conduct of practical exams:
- Ensure availability of necessary infrastructure and lab facilities.
- Appoint external examiners wherever applicable.
- Communicate practical schedules to students and parents in advance.
- Follow subject-wise assessment criteria issued by CBSE.
- Any deviation from prescribed guidelines may invite strict action by the board.
Board Exam Dates & Recent Changes
- Theory exams for Class 10 and 12 are scheduled from February 17, 2026, to April 2026.
- Recent changes in datesheet:
- Class 10 exam originally on March 3, 2026, postponed to March 11, 2026.
- Class 12 Legal Studies exam rescheduled from March 3 to April 10, 2026.
CBSE has clarified that only a few subjects are affected, and the remaining schedule remains unchanged. Schools and students are advised to maintain discipline and adhere strictly to timelines during the examination cycle.
