CBSE has declared the Class 12 Result 2026 with an overall pass percentage of 85.20%, marking a decline of 3.19 percentage points from last year.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has declared the CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 on the official websites cbse.gov.in and results.cbse.nic.in. This year, the overall Class 12 pass percentage stood at 85.20%, lower than last year’s 88.39%. According to official data, more than 17.68 lakh students appeared for the examination, out of which over 15.07 lakh students cleared the board exams successfully. Girls again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 12 examinations.

CBSE 12th Pass Percentage 2026 Declines Compared to Last Year

CBSE recorded a drop of 3.19 percentage points in the Class 12 pass percentage this year.

Experts believe stricter evaluation and the introduction of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system may have contributed to lower scores this year.

 

CBSE Introduces On-Screen Marking System in 2026

CBSE implemented the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system for evaluation of Class 12 answer sheets in 2026. The board stated that the digital evaluation process was introduced to improve transparency, reduce manual errors, and standardise assessment quality. However, many schools and students expressed concerns over comparatively lower marks and stricter checking patterns this year. Several students also discussed the issue on social media after the result declaration.

 

CBSE Class 12 Result 2026 Region-Wise Performance

Trivandrum region emerged as the best-performing region in India with a pass percentage of 95.62%. Chennai and Bengaluru secured the second and third positions, respectively.

Girls Outperform Boys in CBSE Result 2026

Girls once again recorded better performance than boys in the CBSE Class 12 board examinations.

Girls outperformed boys by 6.73 percentage points this year.

 

Institution-Wise CBSE 12th Result 2026 Performance

Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) recorded the highest institutional pass percentage this year at 98.55%, followed closely by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs).

Students can follow these steps to download their marksheets online:

  1. Visit the official website cbseresults.nic.in
  2. Click on “CBSE Class 12 Result 2026”
  3. Enter roll number, school number, and admit card ID
  4. Submit the details
  5. The scorecard will appear on the screen
  6. Download and print the provisional marksheet

Students can also access results through DigiLocker and UMANG platforms.

 

CBSE Compartment Exam 2026 Details

CBSE has announced that supplementary examinations for Class 12 students will begin from July 15, 2026. The online LOC submission process for compartment and improvement exams will start from June 2. Around 1.63 lakh students have been placed in the compartment category this year, higher than last year’s figures.
