CBSE Class 12 Economics Exam Pattern 2026: Marks & Unit-wise Weightage

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has outlined the Class 12 Economics exam pattern for 2026, providing students with a clear understanding of the theory-paper structure, project work, and unit-wise weightage. This announcement comes as students gear up for board examinations next year.

 

The Economics board exam 2026 will carry a total of 100 marks, divided into an 80-mark theory paper and 20 marks for Project Work/Practical assessment. The syllabus is structured into two main parts: Part A – Introductory Macroeconomics and Part B – Indian Economic Development (IED). Emphasis is placed on Competency-Based Questions (CBQs) and Case Study-Based Questions, which account for roughly 50% of the theory paper.
