CBSE Class 10 Exam 2026: Section-Wise Science & Social Science Rules

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has introduced a revised structure for Class 10 Science and Social Science exams 2026. Students must follow the section-wise answering format to avoid losing marks. The move aims to ensure better evaluation and reduce errors where answers are mixed across subjects. CBSE has clarified that all answers must be written in their respective sections. Any deviation will lead to non-evaluation of the answers. Schools have already integrated the new system into Pre-Board exams so students can practice before the final exams.

The Science paper will now be divided into three sections:

  • Section A: Biology
  • Section B: Chemistry
  • Section C: Physics

Students must clearly mention the section before writing answers and strictly stay within the allocated space. Mixing answers across sections will result in marks being forfeited.

The Social Science paper will include four sections:

  • Section A: History
  • Section B: Geography
  • Section C: Political Science
  • Section D: Economics

Answers must follow the same sequence as sections mentioned in the question paper. Incorrect placement of answers will not be corrected during verification or revaluation.

CBSE Sample Papers 2026: Practice for Accuracy

To help students adapt to the new pattern, CBSE has released sample question papers for both Science and Social Science on its official website. Practicing with these papers ensures students do not make structural mistakes and improves their chances of full marks.
