CBSE Board Exam 2026 Practical Exam Guidelines and SOPs Released

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the official guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Class Ten and Class Twelve practical examinations for the Board Exam Two Thousand Twenty-Six. The instructions have been published on the official website at cbse dot gov dot in for schools and students to follow strictly. As per the notification, the practical examinations for winter-bound schools are scheduled to be conducted from November six to December six, Two Thousand Twenty-Five, while the regular session schools will conduct practical exams from January one to February fourteen, Two Thousand Twenty-Six. The practical exams, projects, and internal assessments will be conducted only for regular students sponsored through the List of Candidates (LOC) and based on the eligibility and bonafide status of each candidate.

Key Instructions for Class Ten Practical Examinations

CBSE has made it clear that the Board will not supply practical answer books for Class Ten. Schools will have to arrange the required answer sheets at their own level. Another major instruction states that no external examiner will be appointed for Class Ten practical examinations. The complete assessment process for Class Ten will be conducted internally by the respective schools as per CBSE norms.

External Examiners for Class Twelve Practical Exams

For Class Twelve practical examinations, CBSE will appoint external examiners in every school for conducting practical tests and project assessments in the specified subjects. These external examiners will work in coordination with internal examiners to ensure uniform evaluation standards across all affiliated schools. The marks for private candidates appearing in practical, project, and internal assessments will be awarded strictly as per the CBSE Examination Bye-laws and Board policy.

Uploading of Practical Exam Marks

CBSE has directed all schools to upload practical examination marks simultaneously starting from the date of the exam or assessment itself. While uploading the marks, the following authorities must ensure accuracy:

  • The school authorities
  • The internal examiner
  • The external examiner, wherever applicable

The Board has clearly stated that no correction in marks will be permitted once the marks are uploaded on the portal under any circumstances.

Student Confidentiality to Be Maintained

As per the issued SOPs, the marks awarded in the practical examinations must not be disclosed to students in any form. This instruction is mandatory for all affiliated schools to prevent disputes and ensure complete confidentiality of internal assessments. CBSE has advised schools to follow every instruction strictly to avoid administrative issues during the final result processing. Students and school authorities are encouraged to check the official CBSE website regularly for further updates and clarifications related to the Board Exam Two Thousand Twenty-Six.
