CBSE Board Exam 2026: Counter-Signature of Transfer Certificates

According to the latest notification, CBSE has instructed all affiliated institutions not to send requests for counter-signature of TCs to the headquarters or any of its regional offices. The board reiterated that the earlier practice of countersigning TCs between CBSE schools had already been discontinued, yet some institutions continue to follow outdated procedures. A senior official from the CBSE Examination Department highlighted that repeated non-compliance with existing rules has caused inconvenience to stakeholders. The official further added that schools must strictly adhere to the updated guideline, which eliminates the need for countersignatures entirely.

Purpose of the Decision

The decision is part of CBSE’s ongoing efforts to simplify inter-school transfers and make documentation more transparent. The revised protocol ensures that once a TC is issued by one CBSE-affiliated school, it will be considered valid for direct admission into another CBSE institution without any additional verification step. This measure is expected to reduce administrative load on both schools and regional offices while ensuring a smoother transition for students transferring mid-session or due to relocation.
