CAT 2025 Slot 3 Question Type and Section Difficulty

The Slot 3 paper displayed a noticeable rise in difficulty. While the structure remained unchanged, candidates reported that most questions required deeper analysis, stronger accuracy, and careful time management. The overall difficulty level ranged from moderate to hard, with certain sets and topics testing endurance as much as aptitude.

CAT 2025 Slot 3 Student Reactions and Difficulty Experience

Test-takers described Slot 3 as one of the most challenging CAT sessions in recent years. Many candidates preparing alongside full‑time jobs shared that the difficulty felt higher than expected. Some found the shift overwhelming and stated that even familiar concepts felt harder to apply under pressure.

Several candidates mentioned that despite six months of preparation and mock practice, the exam demanded sharper decision-making and faster elimination skills. Others regretted applying to multiple colleges before reviewing their expected performance, as they felt Slot 3 might impact their chances.

Candidate Insights: DILR Was Highly Challenging

A large number of aspirants agreed that DILR was the toughest section of the slot. Many struggled to find even one fully solvable set at first glance. The graph-based set was considered doable, but some candidates skipped it due to misjudging its difficulty.

The circular arrangement also triggered mixed reactions. Some found it extremely difficult and time-consuming, while others were able to solve it comparatively faster. Overall, DILR demanded clear set selection and precise reasoning under time pressure.

Candidate Insights: Quantitative Aptitude Felt Like the Toughest in Years

Many Slot 3 candidates described QA as mentally exhausting. The difficulty felt significantly higher than expected, with several questions requiring multi-step reasoning. Arithmetic was manageable for some, but Algebra and Geometry were lengthy and dense.

Aspirants reported completing only 6–7 questions confidently before fatigue set in. Several candidates shared that they struggled to maintain focus through the entire section. TITA questions were also mentally draining due to their calculation-heavy nature.

Candidate Insights: VARC Was Moderate but Required Deep Reading

The VARC section was relatively moderate but demanding. Passages required deep inference, and candidates felt they were interpreting rather than reading. The themes were abstract and required strong comprehension. Despite this, many candidates agreed that VARC was the most manageable section of Slot 3.

CAT 2025 Slot 3: Overall Experience

Overall, the Slot 3 paper was rated as moderately difficult to hard, with Quant and DILR standing out as the most challenging parts. Students expect that normalization and scaling will play a significant role due to the difficulty spike. Despite the tough shift, many hope scaling will compensate for lower attempts.
