The CAT 2025 Slot 1 examination concluded in the morning shift with thousands of aspirants appearing across multiple centres. As per student feedback and early expert inputs, the overall difficulty level was higher than CAT 2024, especially due to the complex LRDI sets and calculation-intensive Quant section. The VARC section remained moderate, offering some scoring opportunities.
VARC Difficulty Level in CAT 2025 Slot 1
The Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) section was reported to be moderate in difficulty. Most candidates found the passages readable, though a few questions required close interpretation. Key highlights from VARC feedback include:
- RC questions were straightforward but time-consuming
- Para-jumbles and sentence placement required logical flow
- Vocabulary-based questions were limited
- Expected good attempts ranged between 20 to 25 questions
Compared to CAT 2024, VARC in Slot 1 was slightly more demanding due to denser RC themes and tighter option choices.
LRDI Section Proves the Toughest Again
The Logical Reasoning and Data Interpretation (LRDI) section emerged as the most challenging section of CAT 2025 Slot 1, continuing the trend from previous years. Before breaking down the attempt pattern, it is important to note that most candidates found it difficult to crack more than one full set accurately due to data-heavy and multi-layered logic puzzles. Several sets required deep analytical reasoning with limited scope for shortcuts. Key LRDI observations:
- One to two sets were manageable
- Remaining sets were lengthy with layered calculations
- Good attempts ranged around 9 questions
- Accuracy played a critical role due to complex dependencies
In comparison with CAT 2024, the LRDI section was noticeably tougher and more time-intensive.
Quant Section Moderate But Calculation Heavy
The Quantitative Aptitude (QA) section was rated moderate to difficult. While the number of direct formula-based questions was limited, many problems required multi-step calculations, increasing time pressure. Important Quant insights:
- Dominance of Arithmetic and Algebra
- Fewer Geometry-based problems
- Questions demanded strong conceptual clarity
- Good attempts were reported around 12 questions
Although the difficulty level was similar to CAT 2024 in structure, CAT 2025 Slot 1 demanded higher calculation speed and accuracy.
Overall CAT 2025 Slot 1 Difficulty vs CAT 2024
Based on early responses, the overall paper of CAT 2025 Slot 1 was tougher than CAT 2024, primarily due to:
- Challenging LRDI sets
- Lengthy Quant questions
- Tighter time management requirements
The paper tested application-based learning rather than direct formula usage, making accuracy a crucial scoring factor.
